Northwest Territories Nominee Program

is delivered in partnership between the Government of the Northwest Territories and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.  The Nominee Program helps:

• employers secure highly skilled individuals and newcomers to work and live in the Northwest Territories;
• strengthen the economy by attracting qualified people to fill critical labour shortages in the Northwest Territories;
• support territorial employers to fill labour shortages when there are no qualified Canadians available;
• strengthen the Northwest Territories’ ability to enhance the economic benefits of immigration to the territory; and
• nominate eligible foreign nationals for permanent residency in Canada.

Changes to Employer Driven Stream

As part of the Department of Education, Culture and Employment’s culture of continuous improvement, please note changes to the eligibility criteria have been made to the Nominee Program’s Employer Driven streams (Critical Impact Worker, Skilled Worker/ NWT Express Entry streams).

In response to stakeholder requests for simplified application materials and to enhance program integrity and accountability, program guidelines have been separated into two documents. One document is solely for the Critical Impact Worker stream and the other for the Skilled Worker/NWT Express Entry streams.

These changes are effective today. However, please note:

• For applications submitted on or prior to July 14, 2017: your application will be processed under the previous guidelines.
• For applications submitted after July 14, 2017: please ensure your application package is consistent with the eligibility criteria and includes supporting information required under the new guidelines.
